PD Dr Josef Stoiber completed his medical studies in Innsbruck (A) and Freiburg (D). His clinical formation as ophthalmologist was carried out at the eye clinic Salzburg. This was followed by a specialization in the fields cataract, corneal transplants and refractive surgery.

PD Dr Stoiber spent the years 2002 to 2003 at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, where he participated in a research project. In 2005 he obtained his ‘Habilitation’ at the private Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, with the attribution of the academic title «Privatdozent».

Until 2012 PD Dr Stoiber was at the same time active as senior physician at the university clinic for ophthalmology in Salzburg and since 2012 he is also affiliated as in-patient physician at the private clinic Wehrle-Diakonissen.

He is the author of numerous medical articles, has lectured at national and international congresses and is a member of several professional societies.

Next to his longtime activity at the Eye center Dr. Aus der Au Freiburg (CH) PD Dr Stoiber is also active at his own private clinic in Salzburg.

His special domain includes the surgical correction of myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism by means of all current laser technologies (e.g. Femto Lasik) and lens surgery (CLE, ICL), as well as cataract surgery (in particular implantation of toric and multifocal lenses in combination with laser-assisted lens surgery).
